Easter

As we celebrate one of the most sacred holidays of the Christian faith, we not only celebrate Christ’s Resurrection, but we also need to remember and realize Easter is a celebration of forgiveness and new life.  If ever there was a time that our country could use a breath of new life, it is now! I will go into that further in a minute.

Easter stands for Jesus’ Resurrection after being crucified for our sins. This is true and holy, but what was the reason He had to die for our sins? Forgiveness, so that we could have a relationship with Him. Prior to His resurrection, sins were atoned for by the sacrificing of animals, but this did not provide a means to form a relationship with God.

In the beginning, God created man for companionship. God had a relationship with Adam and Eve. Original sin cut that relationship off because God is holy and cannot be around sin. Although, before Christ, animal blood sacrifices were to cover sin, it didn’t do away and make clean the souls of the sinners. Jesus’ blood did to give a means to have a relationship with Him. Accepting what He did for us and asking Him to come in to our hearts gives us a new life to be able to commune with Him. He provided the means for this when He died on the cross and rose again.

Easter is a day of celebration of the Christian faith, but we should also remember that it is the day that linked us to a relationship with God because of His forgiveness of our sins and letting us be born again.

One of my sincerest prayers is that our country seek forgiveness and seek newness of life by stopping legalized abortion, funding for slothfulness (i.e. by extending unemployment from twenty-six weeks to ninety-nine), making it against the law to display the Ten Commandments or the Nativity in public government places, taking God out of schools, trying to tell Israel that she can’t fly over Iraq to defend herself from Iran, etc.

We are a great nation. We became founded upon great Christian values and beliefs. We are where we are today because of those values and the rewards for practicing them from the grace of God. If you don’t believe that, just look at the advances in technology–most of which has come from the United States in the last one hundred years. How easily we have turned our backs on our Godly foundation and His grace.

We need to bow our knee in forgiveness for allowing legalized abortion, rewarding the undeserving (able people who take advantage of the system without trying to become self-sufficient), wasting our tax money on programs that go nowhere instead of helping the needy, being politically correct about shutting out God from aspects of our lives, etc.  We need to simply follow the Ten Commandments mindfully when minding our jobs and assembling things like new laws.

As Christians, we have become complacent, but we need to stop that behavior now, and stand up to change things full circle to honor and obey our Father God. We need to vote out government leaders who support humanism and loathe Christianity. We need to vote in Christians that love and back our Constitution. As importantly, we need to pray. I can tell you by example that prayer changes things.

The change we are seeing in this administration is not the change we need. The change we need is to return to our Judeo-Christian values and roots so that our God can continue to harvest souls for His Kingdom for eternity. It is my strong opinion that we are still free in this country because we are the springboard for God’s Word flowing throughout our land and lands far away. It is my fear that people like those in this administration would do all they can to stop or limit our freedoms, tax us heavily, ruin our economy, and undermine our Constitution so that we are no longer free to practice our beliefs–which are the foundations of our success in this country.

This Easter is as an important one as there ever has been. Our country is in serious trouble if we don’t do something to stop those in power at this time. I haven’t begun to tell you what I have found out about this administration lately. Stay tuned.

It is our duty to humble ourselves and pray that God will help us turn things around by first asking forgiveness for allowing the immoral laws of the past to sneak in because of our complacency. The current administration is doing a lot of sneaking around, bribing, and counting on our complacency. If ever we needed forgiveness to renew our relationship with God, and His Hand to intervene for our country, we need Him now.

  1. AMEN!! And right on! Excellent thoughts and especially appropriate at this time of year! The only thing that’s going to save us now is prayer — and lots of it!
