In my opinion, we have a lot to be thankful for, and a lot to pray about.
I am thankful for a country where I can come and go as I please, worship as I wish, speak what I want without repercussion, own a firearm, buy and sell things at will, choose my career, raise a family, own a home, own vehicles, etc. All this and more was given to us as our birthrights of being born in these United States of America! I love my country and feel blessed to say she is my homeland!
Our forefathers and many brave young people have given their lives of service, or their blood to guarantee our freedoms and liberties. The founding fathers drew up a Bill of Rights, the Constitution, etc. to assure our rights, liberties and freedoms could be guaranteed in writing. They are the backbone of our Republic.
That being said, there are those in this political administration today that would have our society take a radical change, doing away with our liberties and freedoms we have enjoyed for over two hundred years. They are driving hard to turn this nation from a Republic under God to a Socialist nation as a member of another international world government under a few elite.
We need to pray.
The last fifty years or so have been decades of complacency and tolerance. Although we need to be tolerant of each other’s differences, we have taken that concept to an extreme, and have allowed freedoms, liberties and rights to be attacked and taken away from us. The loss of prayer in school, loss of the display of the Ten Commandments, the loss of display of the Nativity, abortion, and allowing and tolerating social sin as acceptable life styles has been not only an abomination to God, but has come at a high price.
God has had His hand on this country since its inception. In my opinion, we are under His grace and mercy now. He is giving us a chance to seek Him, bow our knee to Him, and turn from our evil ways. God is not a destructive, vengeful God that hacks us over the head immediately after we offend Him. He gives us time and a chance to repent and turn away from what set us apart. It’s called grace and mercy. That’s where I think we are now in this country.
God is not a respecter of persons, nor is He to be mocked. He will deal with sin and wrongdoing after all. Think of the flood, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, etc. God deals with the masses when they are complacent to His ways, sinful and unjust. But–He gives a chance and a warning before He decrees His judgement and brings down sins of the masses.
Personally, from what I read in the bible and have learned about God, He will not tolerate our evil ways forever. As biblical history has taught us, God is slow to anger, but when people don’t listen, don’t care, grow complacent to evil, etc., God steps in. People think they can get away with defiance to God and His commands. Think again!
Our country needs God now. We need to turn around and bend our knee to Him if we enjoy liberties, freedoms and rights. We need His help. We need prayer and we need to pray! We are not alone in standing for God and His principles. He is behind us!
We are closer to losing those things we enjoy and esteem as Americans than ever in my or my parent’s lifetimes.
Recently, the National Day Of Prayer became under attack. Supreme Court Judge Crabb ruled that this day is unconstitutional. “Last month, U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb declared the National Day of Prayer to be unconstitutional, after a group of Wisconsin atheists at the Freedom From Religion Foundation challenged its constitutionality.” (National Day of Prayer Clouded by Controversy, Raven Clabough, 06 MAY 2010, New American Online).
The Obama Administration is defending the National Day Of Prayer for now. (It’s my opinion that decision could be linked to the upcoming Primary Election).
At any rate, the Department of the Army restricted Franklin Graham, the honorary chair for the National Day Of Prayer Task Force 2010, from speaking/preaching at the Pentagon on this day. He recently made some comments about the evilness of the Islam religion (which some have linked to making evil comments of the Islam “people” which Franklin Graham has repeatedly said he loves, but dislikes the Islam “religion”).
In the May 6, 2010 USA Today Online: “According to Andrea Stone at AOL News, the service inside the Pentagon was led by the head of the Armed Forces Chaplain Board (a Protestant) along with Catholic, Jewish and Muslim chaplains who were ‘hastily added to the program” after the Task Force was dropped.’”
Franklin Graham definitely didn’t comply and wasn’t complacent when it came to The National Day Of Prayer at the Pentagon! He said prayers for our troops OUTSIDE the Pentagon! “However, Graham has elected to be present outside of the Pentagon during the prayer services, announcing, ‘I don’t have to be invited to a prayer service to pray for the men and women who serve this nation, who I’m so proud of. I want them to know I support them.’” (National Day of Prayer Clouded by Controversy, Raven Clabough, 06 MAY 2010, New American Online).
Way to go, Franklin Graham! We constitution backing, God-fearing citizens of these United States need to speak up for our rights and freedoms! We can’t be complacent. Not now! We need God. We need prayer. We need citizens to look at our threats to our liberties in the face and tell them “no”!
Thank you God! Thank you Franklin!
